Hot / Cold Aisle
The Hot / Cold Aisle approach is considered to be the "norm" for data
center designs. Racks are aligned front to front and cold air is
delivered using the raised floor as a cold air handling space (plenum).
The ANSI/TIA/ EIA-942-A (data center) standard recommends a cold aisle
width of 1.2 metres (which is equivalent to two floor tiles) to allow a
perforated tile to be placed in front of each cabinet which allows for
cold air to be delivered to the cabinet front.

Racks are aligned front to front and cold air is delivered using the raised floor
Because the raised floor is being used to deliver the cold air it is
essential that all openings within the floor, such as for the passage
of cables, be sealed using a double brush grommet (DP-KP-KAR-A).
This helps to maintain "static pressure" within the floor and minimises
the amount of air that can escape the floor in unintended or undesired
locations.
CONTEG
test data shows a significant improvement to airflow in the case of 83%
super-vented doors being used over standard perforated door types. In
order to make the best use of available cold air it is recommended to
blank-off any un-used space within the rack by using standard blank
panels.

Additionally, using an air separation frame
at the front of the rack will help to block unwanted cold air by-pass
around the mounting profiles leading to an improvement in cooling
efficiency for equipment that uses front to back airflow.

Recommended Hot / Cold aisle rack design
Front
vented door allows the cold air to easily enter the rack whereas the
rear vented door means that warm air is not trapped within the rack but
exhausted into the hot aisle; it is recommended to use separation
frames and blanking panels to optimize air-flow within the rack.
When racks cannot be used for any reason, there is always an alternative - 19" highload open frames RSG4. Load rating is up to 1200kg,
they are suitable also for installation of heavy servers, disk arrays
etc. The frames are also suitable for use in testing and service rooms.
- Front vented door (83% perforation rate) with multipoint swivel handle lock
- Rear vented door (83% perforation rate) with multipoint swivel handle lock
- Removable sheet steel side panels with lock
- Two pairs of 19" vertical sliding extrusions
- Top and bottom openings for cable entry; removable top plate (only RDF racks)
- Adjustable feet as standard; recommended plinth or plinth with filter
Data Center Cooling
Hot/Cold
aisle deployments are ideally suited to deployments which utilise
central room cooling with locally positioned close control units. Since

to help you, together with our colleagues, with your project
whatever it is a project requiring simple cooling solution or an
enormous central cooling capacity. Read MoreDatacenter and server room CFD modeling services
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling is a technical service designed to provide the detailed data to assess and track the temperature and air flow within your existing or proposed data center, server room or main equipment room.Working with your design team the Conteg team of specialists will assist in the space planning and layout, then model your project. The CFD model will simulate the air flows, air pressures and temperature maps for your data center or server room project. Read MoreAegis Data center infrastructure management

When
preparing a complex network project, consultants, designers or the end
user IT department can benefit from the advice or support of our product
managers. Incorrect estimation of the requirements for a project,
whether under-sizing an air-conditioning system or simply failing to
allow adequate space for cable management, can have a drastic impact on
the reliability of the installed equipment and the functionality of the
facility as a whole.
With
our product managers´support you will be able to select the most
suitable rack type for installation of any instrumentation, its power
supply, cooling or just maybe only the correct system of cable
management.
