Passive airflow management
Passive airflow control products are used for optimizing airflow in "front to back" airflow applications to minimize bypass airflow. Their application is recommended for efficient cooling of the installed equipment that requires front to back airflow. In order to create an efficient cold zone we recommend the use of a separation frame, blank panels and, in the case of cold air supply from below the rack, a bottom deflector.
Separation frame - DP-ROF-CW
Separation
frame is used for minimizing by-pass airflow between columns and
extrusions. Thanks to this function is separation frame basic feature
when cool zone inside the rack (in front of installed equipment) is
planned. Depth of the cool zone is 150mm. Separation frame is installed
on 19"
vertical extrusions.
- Frame designed for application in ROF series racks, 600 and 800mm wide and 42 and 45U high
- Installation in front of 19" vertical extrusions
- Frame width (depth of cold zone) 150mm
- In racks with 800mm width "C" type extrusions are necessary ("C" type extrusions are equipped with blanking plugs for effective airflow management)

Deflector - DP-AFD-ROF
Deflector
is located in the bottom part of the rack and is used to lead the cold
air directly to the cold zone in front part of a rack. Deflector is
produced in 600 or 800mm width and can be installed into all ROF family
racks of all depths - from 600 to 1200mm. Deflector can be equipped
with louvre which helps to control air-flow rates or shut air supply
off if no equipment is fitted into the rack.
- Deflector designed for use in ROF series racks, 800, 1000, 1100 and 1200 mm deep
- Deflector installation reduces available positions of 19" vertical extrusions by 2U

Turning vane
The Turning Vane is designed to enhance the natural draw effect of the chimney and is designed to allow passage of cabling and power as well as effectively directing the airflow. Constructed from 1.25mm powder coated sheet steel, the clever design of the turning vane ensures optimum airflow for the hot exhaust. The turning vane requires a minimum of 200mm off-set on the rear extrusions.
Chimney
The Chimney is designed to form a duct for the hot exhaust between the rack and the hot plenum. The chimney is constructed from 1.25mm (check with PP) powder coated sheet steel and comes complete with gasket kits to ensure optimum sealing between the rack and the hot plenum. The chimney height can be varied between 750 and 1450mm (check with PP) according to your site requirements.
Successful
air flow management and optimization also requires the application of
blank panels into all unused rack spaces to prevent by-pass of cooled
air. Double layer brush grommets are also highly recommended for all
opening to prevent by-pass air-flow and help to maintain static
pressure within the raised floor. Application of products mentioned on
this page can vary depending on the particular design specification and
equipment or facility requirements. Therefore, please do not hesitate
to contact us with your questions. We will help you to design the
correct solution for the cooling of installed equipment, including
efficient air flow management.
